Poland Issues Silver 20-Zloty Coin Celebrating Its History
2015-12-22 Tue
The 8th coin in the series portraying classic currency, the 20-zloty silver coin depicts a half-grosz issued under Ladislas Jagiello (1386 CE – 1434 CE). The coin is a proof made of .925 fine silver. Jagiello established a monetary system based on the half-grosz which was followed in Poland for over a century. The inscription on the obverse reads ‘+MONE*WLADISLAI’ continuing on the reverse ‘REGIS*POLONIE’ which translates to – Coin of Ladislas, king of Poland. The obverse portrays the king wearing a crown while the reverse depicts an eagle of the half-grosz which correlates well with the eagle represented on the king’s tombstone.Latest News
